The Sad Times

THE SAD TIMES: This painting, acrylic on canvas 36x36inches, 90x90cm, is titled"Mother and Child". It is a very personal work for me. The bonding between a mother and a child should be so strong that both heads should be the same. You only feel this when you did not have the opportunity of such a bonding.

I painted the two original versions (Acrylic on A3 paper) in 1975. The original is (?) in my ex-wife's place and it was already deteriorated when I left the place some years ago. In 1975 I glued it with a sticky rubber thing to a board and in time the glue started coming through the paper. I offered the second original to a late friend called Pepita Medeiros and I do not know whether the work still exist.

The painting was all the time a central piece in my living room. The experience was that nine people out of ten would "see" something else, precisely what they wanted to see (as many men as women). SO what do you see?

This work"The Eight O'Clock Lovers Goodbye Ghost"(Acrylic on canvas 36x36 inches or around 90x90cm).

What to say about this unless you have passed the same experience? It is a painful good print to say goodbye to a not desired girl/boyfriend, hopefully forever.

Christmas 2006, Acrylic on canvas, 20x30 inches, was the culmination of a year that was full of pain for many and a desire that from so much pain there will be hope, peace and redemption.
