     | The series SCORCHED EARTH (2005-) started with this work "The Flight of the Three Graces Saving The Last Green On Earth". It is in Acrylic on a 30x20 inches canvas. The Three Graces are doing more
than balancing the usual sisterhood act. The message is that the Earth we share with each tiny little speck of bacteria
should be extinct by natural causes, one time in the future, when the Sun burns
itself to a white giant, engulfing all the planets, and after, becoming a small
dwarf red star, never to become a black hole. Peace on
Earth until then. The Three Graces reflect real stories in my life. I can only paint if I am
deeply involved with the persons I depict. No judgements here, only the traits
that I know that affected my life in one way or another. I had to face years of
'catching up' with all those spirits of someone being victim or the other
"Ahaaa..." side. Soon or later reality sinks in and the real face of each one
surges tired. Both become the same. However, souls that look up to the Sky have
already a defender in Oscar Wilde. They are forever.
WHAT'S IN THE EXHIBITION 'CLIMATE OF CHANGE' ?

The pamphlet for NEGATIVE CLIMATE
A poor rich disgraced forgotten country from the South, ANGOLA, celebrated in
1975 a 'Creativity and Invention' week and a couple of years after a 'Climate
Change and Environment' week.
Both events were optimist shouts at a time when thousands of people were dying
because of a civil war fed by a peripheral conflict between the big powers,
during the so called COLD WAR, a stand off war that never took place in the
NORTHERN countries but killed millions in other countries.
The change of pattern in the weather was first recognised in the south of
Angola in the sixties. Rain stopped being regular. The March river flood
patterns were changing year after year. I still miss my daily 15 minute rain at
15.00 o'clock, regular as a Switzerland watch.
An old friend tried to proselyte me some years ago. She tried to convince me
that the end of the world was nigh, all to be blamed on men, or humans, as I
corrected then. I reacted to the fact that if I was being injected every night
with her version of the Bible, I had the same right to argue back. I did it not
with words but with a series of paintings.
The creation of the series 'Scorched Earth', from which "The Flight Of The
Three Graces Saving The Last Green On Earth" is part of, came to the fore.
Standing up against public brains also created 'Filipe The Messenger'.
Can you help me not to save the world by being my 'Tina The Cleaner'?
I believe the WORLD of people and, much later, the Earth, is going to disappear
because of natural causes, Humans clearly being part of those natural causes,
as comets are, after all.
Humans are nature, only that! Humans will not destroy nature; they will only
destroy themselves, giving space to others species, which will worry little
about the end.
I quote and translate 'Vinício de Morais', a Brazilian poet.
'Do not kill the cockroach, its beauty it's innate"
Such is nature!
The pamphlet for POSITIVE CLIMATE
Hi, Mary Ann,
How is our forest today? The wind through the leaves A moment of silence A shuffle somewhere A scuffle nearby No! We relax . . . Perhaps a bird, splashing the wings in a pothole Sometimes stopping all movements Or caught up in a tic, head up, then Head leaning to the right, to the left Ridiculous in only one eye stare As a bird can be Relaxed again, we have . . . Only another second, less or more . . . And in the air Against the bright side of some clouds Thousands of starlings fluxing, correcting the alphabet Time over time, again and again, without possible count Going back and forward, opening and closing the dictionary In constant brushed circles Unsuccessful each time Unsatisfied with the calligraphy . . .
Thank God! Wonderful! For our delight!
